Darts news: Peter Wright crashes out of World Championship after mega Luke Littler debut | Other | Sport

The World Darts Championship has been played at Alexandra Palace since 2008, having moved from the Circus Tavern.

Some figures within darts have suggested that they want the tournament moved away from the globe to reflect the worldwide nature of modern darts.

Former winner Gerwyn Price has led calls for the Worlds to be taken to other countries, citing other sports who hold their equivalent somewhere new each year.

But can the tournament be moved from the venue affectionately dubbed ‘Ally Pally’?

The PDC has a contract with Alexandra Palace until the end of next year’s World Darts Championship.

It is unclear if talks have happened over extending that deal.

Theoretically, the sport’s bosses could consider listening to those who want the tournament to be moved around the world.
