Country with poor healthcare and weather rated worst place for expats | Travel News | Travel

Many of us have dreamt of moving abroad to live and work. For some, it has become a reality while the rest of us are still not ready to take the plunge.

However, if you’re that step closer to leaving the UK and moving abroad then you might want to make note of this list.

New research has found the worst countries for expats to live in 2024. The big move takes a lot of time and research as to whether or not the new destination will be the place for you.

Thankfully, the online expat platform InterNations has done all the hard work for you. The team has published its 2024 Expat Insider Survey which looks at where expats are happiest.

They found Kuwait came top as the worst country for expats to live due to its poor climate and weather. And we’re not surprised seeing as summer temperatures can research a staggering 50C or more. The county also ranked poorly with its healthcare with just 22 percent of expats being happy with their social life in Kuwait.

Meanwhile, Turkey was ranked as the worst country for working abroad. Out of the 53 countries ranked in the survey, the country came last with a third of respondents (34 percent) believing Turkey doesn’t improve their career prospects.

At the other end of the scale, the team found the best countries to live in for expats this year.

They found Panama, which moved up two spots from last year’s rankings, to grab the top spot.

Researchers found an impressive 82 percent of expats said they were happy with their life there. This was 14 percent higher than the global average and almost three-quarters of expats living there were happy with their financial situation.
