A strange row has erupted after a man in Wiltshire was fined for leaving the car park that he had legally parked in. St Stephen’s Place Leisure Park in Trowbridge allows motorist three hours of free parking but small print on signs warns that if drivers leave the car park whilst the vehicle remains, they will be eligible for a fine. An anonymous driver received such a fine after leaving to use a cash machine, according to the Wiltshire Times, leading to calls for the car park to be boycotted. Health ministers announced a new ban on junk food advertising today, as part of the government’s new push to reduce unhealthy lifestyles in order to save the NHS. In a statement to MPs, Minister Andrew Gwynne set out that his department’s new mission to fix the country’s broken health service includes a new focus on preventative care, including reducing obesity, smoking and other unhealthy lifestyles. The new junk food advertising ban will come into force in October 2025, and will be targeted at reducing childhood obesity. The Reform UK leader said his party won more votes than the Liberal Democrats.
