A worldwide search is on to ­reunite Sir Paul McCartney with his much-missed “favourite” guitar that he played on Love Me Do, Twist and Shout and She Loves You. Macca was an unknown teenager when he bought his first Hofner 500/1 electric bass for just £30 in a shop in Hamburg in 1961. Every year Andrea Bocelli returns to Lajatico, his hometown in Tuscany, Italy to sing at the Teatro del Silenzio (Theatre of Silence). The 64-year-old tenor convinced the local municipality to build the open air amphitheatre back in 2006, to which he contributed greatly. Apart from his annual performance there every July, the outdoor venue remains silent, as its name suggests, for the rest of the year. It’s been 50 years since Queen released their debut album and despite Freddie Mercury’s untimely death and John Deacon’s retirement, Sir Brian May and Roger Taylor have very much been keeping the show on the road. The rock legends are set to embark on a North American tour with Adam Lambert later this year and this month celebrate their birthdays.
