Sky says sorry to TV users as it rushes to fix annoying Netflix glitch


If you have a Sky Q box in your house and are struggling to binge on Netflix boxsets you are not alone. It appears that some gremlins are currently affecting these hugely popular set-top devices and it’s stopping homes from being able to launch the much-loved streaming app. When trying to access Netflix, some are simply seeing a red spinning circle that won’t go away.

It’s highly annoying with Sky Q users now taking to online forums and social media to complain about the issues. One user called Karen said, “Is there a fault with Netflix?? I’ve been unable to watch for 3 evenings.” Whilst another, called Copper, added, “Netflix won’t load. Just red circle spinning.”

Sky has now confirmed that it is aware of the bug and is working hard to release a fix as soon as possible.

Speaking to GB News, a spokesperson for Sky said: “We understand that some Sky Q customers are experiencing issues with Netflix and we apologise to anyone who has been impacted. Our teams are working hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

The online Sky help team has also been responding to customers with a new app thought to be in the pipeline. “Rest assured our support teams are working on this. A newer version of the app will be released ASAP,” the support service said.

Sky has also issued some advice with the company saying that, “In the meantime, Netflix will remain accessible on other devices, e.g a mini box, a smart TV app or mobile devices/laptops.”

That means if you can’t tune in on your main Sky Q box you can still enjoy a night of entertainment using other devices.

Netflix first launched on Sky Q all the way back in 2018 and has become a firm fan favourite. The in-built application means there’s no need to have a separate device to watch this platform with one tap on the Sky remote launching boxsets, movies and entertainment on the big screen.

Not everyone is affected by this new bug but hopefully, those currently struggling to log in will be back online soon. It is also not having an impact on those who use Sky Stream or Sky Glass devices.
