Ukraine war LIVE: Panic as Russia fires ‘drone attack’ near NATO border, killing one | World | News

US secretary of state Antony Blinken has arrived in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, CNN has reported, ahead of meetings with President Volodymyr Zelensky and foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba.

The secretary of state is expected to announce additional funding for Ukraine, according to a senior State Department official, to the value of more than £796m ($1bn).

Kyiv was targeted by Russian missiles overnight, which were intercepted, according to the city’s military administration.

Mr Blinken’s trip was not publicised and it was denied by the White House last night.

A video has been circulating of Mr Blinken meeting a Ukrainian Jack Russell Terrier known as Patron, a mine-sniffing dog, as evidence of his arrival. The video, however, is from September last year.

An image (below) showing Mr Blinken working on the train to Kyiv this morning has since been published.
