He began learning to paint in Hamburg under the guidance of Gerdt Hardorff and Hermann Kauffmann. Later, he studied at the Prague Academy with Christian Ruben. In 1850, he moved to Antwerp to complete his training. By 1852, Schlesinger settled in Düsseldorf, where his brother Felix, also a painter, had studied. Turkish officials say a helicopter that crashed on Sunday, killing Iran’s President and foreign minister, had its transponder switched off or was not fitted with one.
