Vladimir Putin’s authorities are planning to deport at least 52,000 Ukrainian children to Russia in the coming months as a disturbing abduction plot intensifies. Leonid Pasechnik, the Kremlin-appointed head of the Luhansk People’s Republic, announced on Monday that Russia will “host” over 12,000 children from the eastern Ukrainian region it is illegally occupying. In addition to this, a programme titled “Useful Vacations” will sponsor 40,000 Ukrainian children to “visit” Russia to attend summer camps. North Korea released more than 250 balloons carrying animal faeces, toilet paper and rubbish over its southern border on Wednesday. South Korea condemned the “inhumane” attack as “low class” and “vulgar”. Residents living along the border zone were warned to not touch the suspicious objects. Many received text messages from their provincial authorities asking them to “refrain from outdoor activities”. Violence after a pro-Palestine demonstration in London saw three police injured while 40 people were arrested. Organised by a coalition of acvtivists including the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, the demonstration began at Whitehall shortly before 6pm on Tuesday, May 28.
