A couple slammed Ryanair over scenes involving drunken passengers on a flight to Ibiza. The pair were looking forward to a relaxing break abroad but were subjected to a “horrific” three hours of travel on board the budget airline flight. The married couple, who did not wish to be named, boarded a flight from Edinburgh Airport to Ibiza on September 25. Pension Credit is designed to assist low income pensioners by providing a boost to weekly income. However, a Freedom of Information (FOI) request has revealed almost 60,000 claims made between April and August were waiting to be processed by October 26. Typically, during a tax year, some 85,500 new Pension Credit claims are received. But between April and August of this year, a total of 111,550 claims were submitted – suggesting claims have spiked in response to the cost of living crisis. Russia has decided to cancel annual talks with the US centred on nuclear weapons.  State-run Russian agencies have reported that Sergei Ryabkov, the deputy foreign minister, said the Kremlin was left with “no other choice” this year.  The US first announced the cancellation of its “New START” nuclear arms reduction treaty – due to launch from Cairo this week – yesterday.   The Russian response, according to Ria Novosti, comes as the nations split on their priorities pertaining to nuclear weapons.  Ryabkov said: “By and large, the situation was such that we had no other choice. Business Secretary Grant Shapps announced in the House of Commons on Tuesday that the Sizewell C nuclear power plant will create at least 10,000 jobs during its construction after the project finally got given the green light.
